Guaranteed Pitching Success Tips?

Yesterday on my Pitching Academy facebook page I posted this:

Pitching Tip: No more pizza, hamburgers and fries in between your double header. Eat clean and enhance your performance.

I posted that because I’ve seen many teams get fast food between double headers. Not a good idea!

Growing up I wasn’t always the best example of clean eating.

When I was in Little League, like many kids, I was uneducated when it came to nutrition.

When I played ball in High School, my friends and I would go to the grocery store and stock up on bulk candy the night before a game. We would eat it all on the bus; often times before our most important tournaments. This, of course, was dumb! πŸ™‚ After the game (win or lose) our entire team would stop and get burgers and fries at the nearest fast food joint.

In high school I was thin. I started listened to everyone who was telling me that I needed to put some meat on my bones.

So, knowing that I wanted to “bulk up” I just ate and ate. I ate anything and everything. I remember going to Burger King when whoppers were $1 (great times!) and ordering 5 of them for lunch with a large drink and fries. I gained nothing! I would also eat Ice Cream by the pint. Still no weight gain.

So what came of all of that eating? Well, I know I had to overcome some pretty serious eating habits when I played college ball. And, I’m certain that my performance suffered greatly because of my choices.

So, why am I sharing this with you today? Why do I tell you about my weaknesses in little league and High School? πŸ™‚

Because I care about you. I really do. I care about your performance on the mound. I care about what you’re eating. You deserve to play at your best all the time.

You can’t expect to play at peak performance eating whatever you want to eat. True athletes care what goes into their body.

My advice to you today is to get educated about nutrition and clean eating. Learn what to eat before and after your games and workouts.
