Two Day Pitching Grips!
November 2, 2011Increase Velocity with Balance?
November 21, 2011It comes to no surprise for many of us that Justin Verlander is lacing up his shoes already and getting to work this off-season in preparation for the 2012 season.
Many of us tend to think pitchers in the Major Leagues have it all figured out. After all, they are in the Major Leagues and there to stay right? wrong. No matter who you are you are still fighting for your spot to play at that very intense and competitive level. It takes complete focus, intense anaerobic and aerobic conditioning and a deep desire to be the best to compete at that level.
I recently read this article about Justin Verlander. I will be forwarding this to many of my students to remind them how hard they need to continue to train this off-season. Off-season training is different and doesn’t require as much throwing until late December or January; however, if you want to be your best in 2012 you need to get ready to vamp up your workouts.
Start your off-season off right with our new DVD series that will help you polish every pitch, workout like Verlander and have the season you deserve in 2012. Now it’s time for you to lace up your shoes and get to work!
Here is a small paragraph from the article that I read this morning about Verlander. I like the phrase “polish every pitch” and the fact that they mention Verlander works very hard on his mechanics. Here is a clip of Verlander’s Mechanics in slow motion.
Paragraph in the article:
“Last Spring Training, he put a focus on polishing every single pitch, making each of them good enough that he could throw any pitch in any count. He worked on his mechanics so that he could commit his right form to muscle memory well before Opening Day. He pushed up his schedule ahead of past years, so that he could be in top form when the season began rather than having to work into it for the first month.”
