Should We Study Bad Mechanics?

I was on a baseball forum the other day and responded to an interesting post.

Here it is.

“It isn’t like the goal isn’t to make a perfect judgment about every pitch, then put a perfect swing on it. But that isn’t reality. Reality is, getting that done every time is impossible, but the ones who do most often will be the most “successful”.

Is it possible that by studying the horrible looking swings and the situations they were taken, it might be that just as much if more could be learned than by only looking at perfect ones?”

Here was my response.

“The problem is what you do with the information once you see it? If you recognize the incorrect fundamentals in a swing, what next?

In other words if you lack the ability to correct the mechanics, there is little good that can come from watching bad swings.

Now, having said that, I think a big challenge for athletes, parents and coaches I work with is how to recognize the poor swings in their athletes. Therefore, it’s a two way street. Athletes, parents, and coaches alike must learn correct fundamentals and what they look and feel like, then they must also understand how to recognize the improper techniques in a swing in order to solve the problem.”

This was precisely the reason we made our DVD series. We wanted athletes, parents, and coaches to understand mechanics. It’s one thing to see the correct mechanics and understand them, but quite another to recognize a mechanical mistake and solve it.

In our DVD series we demonstrate all the common problems for you and provide solutions.

The even better news is that our 3-Day Black Friday sale begins Thursday and ends Saturday evening. Everything is 35% off and we’ll have a special deal for the DVD series. We want you to pick one up for your off season training as it will make a huge difference to your understanding of baseball pitching and hitting mechanics.
