I’m not so good with math, but when a player has 57 RBI’s in 50 games, that’s good right!?
One of the reasons for Miguel Cabrera’s run producing ability is his absolute willingness to go with pitches. You combined that with how long his bat stays through the strike zone, and that explains his massive run producing year… kinda.
Take a look at the below animated composite (click here if it doesn’t animate on your screen). All of those pitches resulted in home runs. That’s some good plate coverage. It’s so important but unfortunately for most youth hitters, they never figure out how to cover most parts of the plate, and therefore become hampered by their own inefficiencies.
I’ve put a couple drills in my Hitting Drills module that teach plate coverage and bat path. I don’t care if you’re a parent who never played a game of baseball in your life, you can teach your kid the drills I give you in that module. Take a look.
