Check Out Lincecum’s Baseball Swing

S.F. Giants star pitcher, Tim Lincecum went 3-3 today with 3 RBI’s in a game against the Dodgers.  What impressed me about his offensive performance is that he was never trying to do too much with his swing in each at bat.  If you watch the video from mlb.com, you will see an example of a brilliant bunt, with runners on first and third I might add.  His baseball swing mechanics were compact on his next two at bats pulling the ball to right field and going the other way with a curveball.

Here’s what I want you to take from this video clip.

1.  Never try and do too much with any given pitch.  If your baseball swing mechanics are consistent and compact enough you can keep your weight back and see the ball deep into the zone.

2.  Do team things when you can.  It would have been easy for Lincecum to shoot for a deep sac fly in his first at bat, but he saw a hole on the right side of the field and exploited the Dodger defense.  While home runs are flashy, hustle and good team baseball win lots of games.
