If Your Effort Doesn’t Match Your Dreams… You’re Screwed

Both Dan and I work with a lot of athletes throughout the season.  One of the things that irritate us the most as instructors is when athletes say they are going to work hard on their skills and then put in a half ass effort during the week.  Sometimes all we have to do is paint a picture of what college and professional baseball is like and the work habit and effort required to make it to that level of baseball.  Other times it’s just a massive disconnect between the mouth of an athlete and his body.  His words communicate that he’s serious about baseball and working hard, but his actions speak otherwise.  Sadly, it seems like it’s always the talented athletes who choose this unfortunate path.

If you have big dreams but yet you’re not putting in the time working on your skills, this is your wake up call.  Baseball will eat you up.  There is no room for slackers.  Get off the fence and make the right decision and allow your mouth and body to work hand in hand to create a better you.

I know many of you had tournaments this past Memorial Day weekend.  Tomorrow is the best time to build on the momentum you created.  If you had a rough weekend, tomorrow is still the best time to work on your skills.  When the memories (good or bad) are fresh, that is when it’s time to work.  You got to be in tune with your mechanics, whether it’s on the mound or in the batter’s box.  If you have no idea what you’re doing, it’s time to pick up our DVD Series.  That will get you on the right track.

Remember, those who play collegiate and professional baseball are not there by accident.  It takes CONSISTENCY.  Best to start this process when you’re young.
