The Pitching Academy was launched early in 2002. I had just graduated at Utah State University as a Health Education Specialist with an emphasis in Spanish Teaching. Strange combination I know! I started instructing pitchers and before long my schedule was full. I felt I had to duplicate myself quickly because of the demand.
Finally, two years later, I launched The Pitching Academy online. It wasn’t an instant success because I knew nothing about online marketing. My strength was, and still is, helping pitchers with their mechanics.
A year went by and I contacted Nate Barnett. During this time Nate was launching one of his own sites focusing on The Mental Game of Baseball and Hitting Mechanics. We initially connected to help each other with our own sites; after hours on the phone (Nate’s in Washington, I’m in Utah) talking about Baseball; we realized we share the same vision. We decided to partner up to make The Pitching Academy much more effective for all of you.
Years of experience
Together Nate and I have over 50 years of baseball experience. My emphasis is pitching, Nate’s is both hitting and the mental game. Nate and I are both certified teachers. I feel one of the reasons we connect so well with people in the Baseball community is because we can both take complex baseball mechanics and break it down in a way that even the youngest of athletes can understand and put to practice.
Future of The Pitching Academy
Both of us are always thinking about how to bring our ideas out on paper and on video. This summer we are launching a series of both hitting and pitching videos. We are excited about this project in particular because many of the videos we will be producing come from questions all of you are asking. Thank you!
